Trying to catch up on my blogging. We've been very busy! Friday night we flew to Guangzhou. It was Remi's 1st plane ride. She didn't seem to mind it a bit and was very active the entire trip. It gave us a glimpse of what the long flight back to the US will be like. Oh Boy! We got in to Guangzhou at 10:20 pm. Got all our luggage but mine AND we couldn't fine our ticket stubs to fill out a lost luggage ticket. Quite the process but we were finally able to leave the airport after 11 and was hoping that my luggage would soon be found. We were SO excited to walk into the China Hotel.....air conditioning a LOTS of it and 5 star hotel to boot...Ahhhh. AND most people that work here speak English...Paradise. OH AND they have a pool!! We were sooooo tired when we got into our room then realized as we were walking into the room...it was a smoking room and only a king sized bed. We dealt with it for the night and they were going to switch us to a different room the next day.
Yes, my consuming desire is to mingle with road crews, sailors and soldiers, barroom regulars—to be a part of a scene, anonymous, listening, recording—all this is spoiled by the fact that I am a girl, a female always supposedly in danger of assault and battery. My consuming interest in men and their lives is often misconstrued as a desire to seduce them, or as an invitation to intimacy. Yes, God, I want to talk to everybody as deeply as I can. I want to be able to sleep in an open field, to travel west, to walk freely at night.. Flights to Lagos
